Tom D is a band where I started to play the drums after my father died who was the drummer before me. For this occasion we played a acoustic session at the “summerfest” of Reg. The strange thing what happend was, when we started to play the first song “Absolute Beginners”, I was confronted with the image of my father who played at the exact same spot and setting 2 years ago. As I started to play, I got overwhelmed by a wave of emotional feelings. This was definitely the most uncomfortable situation ever. I was crying inside, but couldn’t show it, while people were listening and enjoying the music. This is something I will never deny myself again. Why couldn’t I show my emotions at that time? Is this something we think is right? The show must go on!
Absolute Begin
As time passes away and we deal with our sorrows.
We forget we are not alone.
Words finding peace, embraced by music.
They tell truth and show you yourself.
Just let it go, and find happiness in joy.
As we play, smiles open on the faces.
People showing your inner peace?
Let it go as you embrace the now.
Strange ways to tell.
Strange ways to feel.
Strange ways to express.
Not to blame, not to explain.
It is!
Lyrics by David Bowie covered by Tom D
Absolute beginners
I’ve nothing much to offer
There’s nothing much to take
I’m an absolute beginner
But I’m absolutely sane
As long as we’re together
The rest can go to hell
I absolutely love you
But we’re absolute beginners
With eyes completely open
But nervous all the same
If our love song
Could fly over mountains
Could laugh at the ocean
Just like the films
There’s no reason
To feel all the hard times
To lay down the hard lines
It’s absolutely true
Nothing much could happen
Nothing we can’t shake
Oh, we’re absolute beginners
With nothing much at stake
As long as you’re still smiling
There’s nothing more I need
I absolutely love you
But we’re absolute beginners
But if my love is your love
We’re certain to succeed
If our love song
Could fly over mountains
Sail over heartaches
Just like the films
If there’s reason
To feel all the hard times
To lay down the hard lines
It’s absolutely true
